Frequently Asked Questions

  1. WNY Catered Events at Michael's Catering and Banquets employs all the necessary management and banquet / kitchen staff for the full-service banquets booked here. Events can also be held here at Michael’s without food or drink. We even allow in simple foods from a home kitchen or a local restaurant or caterer! There are some restrictions regarding bringing in food from an outside source, a manager can explain those restrictions and explain to you how we price room rentals for events not choosing to book full catering services.
  2. Michael’s and WNY Catered Events add only NYS Sales Tax to event invoices; no gratuities are expected or collected. Our servers are paid a fixed hourly rate and do not work for tips, there is no gratuity or service charge required to be paid.
  3. It is our policy to consider all prospective bookings as tentative until the date is confirmed with a member of our office staff. Prospects will be held for one (1) week. A function is not confirmed until a nonrefundable/nontransferable deposit is given and the required contract(s) have been signed. Deposits are accepted in cash or by personal check. Deposits are early payments that go right towards your balance due and are not considered room rentals or extra monies due.
  4. In general, we have a 25 adult guest minimum for events with a sit-down menu and a 30 adult guest minimum for events with a buffet. If you are planning an event with less adult guests, we will then apply a room rental depending on your date, room and menu of choice. Friday and Saturday evening events will be required to guarantee a minimum cost as well as number of adult guests based on room assignment. (these minimums will be part of your Contract with us)
  5. Prices and menu offerings are subject to change as outlined in our Michael's Contract.
  6. Menu selections should be submitted prior to going to print with your invitations. An estimated count is due two (2) weeks before, one week before, and the final count is due three (3) days prior.
  7. Full payment is required three (3) days prior to your function. A deposit and signed Contract is due to confirm any party as a definite booking. The amount due depends on the room and the date being booked. Your deposit is due in cash or by personal check. Your final balance is due 3 calendar days prior in cash or by certified bank check.
  8. We are proud to offer functions our own, "in-house" sound system.
  9. Michael's reserves the right to control and inspect all functions. The Facility maintains compliance with the New York State Liquor Authority's rules and cannot serve alcoholic beverages to any person under twenty-one years of age.
  10. Alcohol cannot be brought in as any type of “favor.” No other outside vendor is allowed to offer a bar of any kind here. All bars and tabs on beer and wine or punches with alcohol must go through WNY Catered Events. We do not allow temporary licenses for alcohol of any kind in this building
